Everyone loves Christmas trees. The bright and colourful decorations, the smell and the feeling of being Christmassy you get from seeing all the wrapped parcels under the tree.
We throw away a lot of things at Christmas, don’t make your tree one of them.
Reduce
- Have an artificial tree you can use again and again. Just decorate it differently to make it fun and interesting every year.
- Hire a Christmas tree (see quick links). You can have it delivered to your house and after Christmas the company will come back and take it away.
Reuse
- Buy a real tree in a pot. Keep your tree watered whilst indoors and put it in your garden for the rest of the year. Next Christmas bring your bigger tree back indoors.
Recycle
- Take your real tree to your household waste and recycling centre so it can be composted.
- Ask your local council if it can be collected with your green garden waste. Make sure you take all the decorations off, remove the stand or pot before putting your tree out for collection.
